Women in Culture: 3 questions to Silvia Bolognesi and Marina Lo Blundo, Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze

Silvia Bolognesi and Marina Lo Blundo are both archaeologists from Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze and run the official blog and the social media.  The answers are joint answers.

1. Why are you personally on social media?

Socialmedia is the way for a global communication. We can’t imagine our life without socialmedia today. We are totally immersed in the world of global connectivity, information and communication. It’s impossible to stay out of the social life today. We have many social accounts: twitter, facebook, instagram and we are blogger too. We love communicate our heritage and we use social media to do that.

2. Why did your museum registered for MuseumWeek?

The museum participates in the museumweek since the first edition. We think that museumweek is a great opportunity for museums to present themselves and their collections to the public. In this week we promote the museum and dialogue between museums and publics. We hope to involve more and more people.

3. What are you planning to do to support the #womenMW intitative during the MuseumWeek?

The Greek section of Museum exhibits a good number of vases and artworks that show the status of women in antiquity. The greek women did not enjoy their life, they were relegated to the house and did not participate in public life. The role of the museum is then to explain that today the situation must be different. It’s hard to do it in 140 characters, but we’ll try!

Also during the week we will make an extraordinary opening in which we will talk about the role of woman, responding to the theme #womenMW!
