3 questions to Sophie Butler from Cliffe Castle Museum and Art Gallery, United Kingdom

Sophie Butler is Museum Assistant at Cliffe Castle Museum and Art Gallery which is run by Bradford Museums and Galleries.

1- why are you personally on Twitter ?

I think Twitter is an amazing platform in which you can learn and be inspired by many different types of organisations, events and activities. It is an easy way of engaging within a larger community who have the same interests and skills as yourself. Since starting on Twitter, I have widened my connections and come across lots of new and fun information.

2- why did your museum registered to the MW?

Taking part in #MuseumWeek and other international Twitter events like #AskACurator and #MuseumSelfie are always great fun. They let us engage with our followers and other organisations in a new way, as well giving us the opportunity to make links with people who share similar interests to us. It allows us to give everyone a glimpse behind the scenes and it allows people interact with us and let us know their thoughts, opinions and ideas in a relaxed and fun way.

3- which Twitter accounts do you recommend for people interested in museums, science, architecture or literature ?

I honestly think that there are far too many to choose from but to start you off I would have a look at the following

 Museums Association – @MuseumsAssoc

Culture24 (features about UK museums, galleries, libraries + heritage sites) – @Culture24

 Kids in Museums – @kidsinmuseums

Arch Daily (up to date architectural news + events) – @ArchDaily

 British Museum – @britishmuseum

 Natural History Museum – @NHM_London

 Bath Architecture – @MuseumBathArch

And of course do take a look at the Bradford Museums and Galleries Twitter and website for up to date information on our events and activities across all of our Yorkshire based sites! @BradfordMuseums and http://www.bradfordmuseums.org/
